Ancient History

Kanpur city was founded by King Hindu Singh of the Erstwhile State of Sachendi, Kanpur. Previously Kanpur was known by the names like Kanhpur or Cawnpore etc. In 1765 it became the part of British Empire when a treaty was signed by Nawab of Awadh. Under British rule, it achieved significance in terms of business and political power. Since then it has done an enormous growth.
